The Little Buffalo

“Once there was a Buffalo named Bibi. She had always longed to go swimming in the lake and be a fish, because the love of her life, Feric the Fish, lived there. Every day she would sit on the rocks and bellow, “I WANNA BE A FIIIIIIISSHHHH!” Sadly, she wasn’t a very good singer. One day, Bibi’s family, the royal buffalo family, put on a play. Everyone came. Feric (swoon! Mwah!) the Snail royal family, even the wicked witch Socki the slug. Bibi was the lead, of course. Wally the Wolf. In the play, he did all sorts of crazy stuff to get chickens. It was really funny. Feric laughed TWENTY THREE TIMES! Bibi was counting. Obviously. Later, Socki cornered her backstage. “If you have a wish, Bibi, I can grant it.” “I want to be a fish, so I can marry my darling Feric!” Socki laughed. “MWAH HA HA HA HA! That I can grant! All you have to do is swing by the lake later, and knock that snail princess into the lake.” “Sure!” Bibi said. So she went by the lake later, and hid in the brambles, when she saw Mr. Finagan’s niece Nessa holding a SNAIL PRINCESS! Just as Nessa was giving the snail to her uncle for fish bait, Bibi knocked it into the water. In an instant, she had become a fish! Socki’s voice echoed in her mind. “You are now Fifi the Fish….” It said. Fifi swam off to find Feric. Suddenly she bumped into him. “Hi!” She said happily. The moment Feric saw her new fish form, he realized he was in love with her! They held hands and swam over to the rest of the fish to announce their relationship. The fish were preparing to go down the spillway to warmer rivers for winter. Fifi and Feric were about to live happily ever after! But Socki had other plans. Just as the school of fish was heading down the spillway, Socki used her magical powers to summon the Lady of the Woods. “Oooooooohhhhhh………” The Lady said as she cast a dark shadow on the lake. She focused her magic on Feric. Slowly he turned purple, and then he started to bleed, and then he shriveled up like a raisin, and he was about to die! But Fifi had other plans. She spread out her arms and with the power of TRUE LOVE she saved him and sent Socki and the Lady away. And Fifi and Feric lived happily ever after. Now, Fifi is princess of the fish royal family-but she prefers to swim around, having adventures.
