Next year at the Foresthood School

Act 1

It was the last day of school. All the Foresthood School animals were happy.

Emo had asked the principal if she could drive a school bus to the Foresthood School many times that year, but he kept forgetting to respond. Then, that last day, he gave her permission to drive there.

Emo was a terrible driver. She drove the school bus into the lake. Sadly, everyone in the school had decided to take the bus. Luckily, Mr. Finnigan fished the bus out of the lake.

So everyone was two hours late. But no one was that mad at Emo. She was a pretty likable ostrich.

Act 2

In Willy the warthog’s class, the first thing they did was take attendance. Everyone was there.

“Okay, people, we will be having a spelling test. Use a stick to scratch ‘table’ into the dirt.”

“Scratch ‘hello.’ Okay the test is over.”

“The charcophagus holding Kheti the chicken was stolen in 1,212 BC!” Screamed Emo.

“Um, okay, Emo,” said Willy the warthog. Anyway, we have one free period before lunch, yes you arrived that late!”

Act 3

In Rachel the rabbits class, Dolly was absent, because she was too scared to go to school after Mr. Finnigan accidentally fished the school bus out of the lake.

Penny and Fiona learned that mosquitos sucked human blood and were therefore predetors to humans in Predators & Prey. And then they learned humans are very silly animals.

And they learned about famous mosquitos. And famous mosquito empires. And the history of mosquitos. And they wrote halloween stories about mosquito vampires.

And they wrote reports on mosquitos.

Then they had a test on mosquitos.

“Okay, lunchtime, everyone,” Rachel said.

Act 4

Elli the elephant, Gigi the giraffe, and Henry the hippo were in Lee the lizard’s art class.

“Everybody, today we will carve these wood logs. A thank you for Fiona the fox, who carved out carving materials with her claws. This is how you carve: slice this way, slice that way, stab here, stab there. Go! We have an hour and thirty minutes to do this.”

Gigi made a pair of stilts. After she finished carving them, she practiced using them. She was very satisfied.

Henry made his wheelbarrow bigger. “The more (lunch) the merrier” was his motto, anyway.

Elli made herself, as a lion, with five heads, dressed as a pirate in pink underpants. Elli had forgotten what she looked like.

Act 5

It was lunchtime. Everyone was yelling about many different things.

“Mosquitos suck the blood of humans!”

“You spell table T-A-B-L-E! We learned that!”

“Which of my heads is the most flattering?”

“With my stilts, I will never be short again-OW! I fell off of them!”

“Ancient mosquitos are very, very interesting! I recommend reading about them!”

“Human beings are silly.”

“COME ON, winter vacation! Three months of no school! I cannot wait!”

“Mega-wheelbarrow for-EVER! Anyone want free grass? Hey, Emo, you’re trampling my favorite grazing spot!”

“The lake is AWESOME for swimming this time of year, don’t you think?”

Act 6

In Willy the warthog’s class, Willy told everyone that they were supposed to write rhyming poems. “About whether or not you are hibernating,” he told them.

Emo’s poem was:

i dont hav a dog my meels are nat big and i dont hibernat and also i like twigs

Emo the ostrich is not the best speller.

Titi’s poem was:

I DU NOT REMEMBR IF I HYBRNAT BUT MOMMY SES DAT IT SNOWS IN WINTR WHAT IS SNOW AGEN OLSO TEECHR WUT IS RYMING

Titi does not know what rhyming is.

Clem’s poem was:

Seriously, it does not matter if I hibernate! Next year I will be in Rachel the rabbit’s class! You get brain freeze if you eat ice cream too fast. Okay Willy I am bored of writing this poem.

I think Clem is the best at writing in the class. And he forgot to rhyme, too. Sort of.

Act 7

Fiona and Penny had another Predators & Prey lesson.

They learned about polar bears. They learned polar bears eat seals and fish. And they made pretend interviews between themselves and the polar bears.

WHAT I WOULD ASK A POLAR BEAR by Fiona The Fox. What is your name? Pana. What is the place that you live called? The great big iceberg. Is it a just an iceberg that nobody leaves, or is it one iceberg in a colony of icebergs that people often travel between? A whole lot of icebergs. I like this one. Fish come here a LOT.

MY POLAR BEAR INTERVIEW BY PENNY THE PORCUPINE! WHO IS ME! Do you like field trips? They are the best thing in the world. What is the best field trip you ever had? Two years ago we went to Snow Land. It’s an amusement park. We have not yet had a field trip at my school. All five years I have been here. Do you think that is a terrible crime? Completely!

Act 8

Gigi the giraffe was in the nurses office after falling off her stilts. Henry and Elli learned about the history of snow.

“THIS YEARS snow,” Huck the hyena reminded them for the forty-fifth time. “In spring last years snow melted. In summer all that stuff was just GONE. And now it’s there again. Snow is a weather thing. The End!”

“Elli, what do you think of snow?” Huck asked.

“What was the question?” Elli murmured.

“What about you, Henry?” Asked Huck.

“I don’t like it. It blocks away my wonderful, yummy grass. I have to dig it away with a shovel, or the dreaded SAVING GRASS.” Henry replied.

Act 9

Emo was not allowed to drive a school bus back home from school.

Everyone walked home, as usual.

“Bye, Emo and Titi!” Clem said very sadly.

“Buh-bye, teach!” Was all he said to Willy. “And HELLO, Summer!”

“There’s a student here named Summer?” Emo said, wide-eyed.

Act 10

Winter happened.

Act 11

On the first day of a new school year, everyone was walking to school like everyday. It was early spring.

But there were two differences:

Leo the ladybug (a four year old; new to the school) ran across branches to get to the Foresthood School. It made him a lot faster than usual.

Gigi was going to a MIDDLE SCHOOL for HUMANS in PORT JERVIS.

Emo had met Titi on a path so they could walk together.

Dolly was trying to hide the whole way there because she was scared of the new student.

So, really, still a regular day.

P.S.

That winter, everyone had taken the beginning/end of the year tests.

Act 12

In Willy’s class, he told everyone, “Please welcome our new student, LEO THE LADYBUG!”

“Hi,” said Emo.

“Hi,” said Titi.

“Okay, everyone solve the problem I made. You have 30 minutes.”

The problem was…1+1=__

Leo said: the answer

Titi said: 11

Emo said: 2

“Nice job Emo, bad job everyone else.” Said Willy.

Act 13

“Hi, class!” Rachel said enthusiastically. “Today we will be making HI PEOPLE, THIS IS ME books.

She showed them her book.

“You have 20 minutes,” she announced.

This is what Clem wrote:

My name is Clem. My favorite color is green, but I’m flexible so I’m OK with anything. I like Ms. Rachel, my new/old classmates, being 7, un-boring things, and camouflaging. I dislike Willy the warthog, my old classroom, being 6 5 or 4, and (other) boring things. My favorite food is leafs. HI PEOPLE, THIS IS ME!

Dolly wrote:

My name is Dolly I’m scared of colors I like hiding, my friends, grass, not scary places I dislike Mr. Finnigan, and other scary things My favorite food is yummy grass. HI PEOPLE, THIS IS ME

Penny wrote:

My name is Penny My favorite color is yellow, school bus color (for field trips!) I like field trips, excursion escolar, sortie scolaire, klassenausflug I dislike when we can’t have them My favorite food is anything you would bring on a field trip HI PEOPLE, THIS IS ME

Act 14

In Huck’s class, the first thing everyone did was have a joke contest.

Elli beat Huck,

Fiona beat Henry,

Fiona beat Elli.

Fiona’s winning joke was:

Q: What did the 0 say to the 8?
A: Why ya wearing a belt?

Everyone laughed after that. No one really laughed at Henry’s joke:

Q: Why did the chicken cross the playground? A: To get to the other SLIDE!

Act 15

Lunchtime, as always, including lots of yelling:

“I won the joke contest!”

“Who’s the oldest in the school NOW, huh, Gigi? Huh?”

“Hey, Titi. Want to sit together?”

“Sure! Guess what? I won gold in 7 races this summer!”

“Guess what? I saw a rainbow last week-oh all those colors! TERRIFYING!”

“Oh, yeah, and then Aunt Elenor said-um. What was I saying?”

“The house plan states that the length of its manual area must be equivalent to its 44th degree; its maximum distance is facinating…”

“Ugh. I wish we could have a field trip!”

“Being 7 is SO AWESOME! No more Willy the warthog!”

Act 16

In Willy’s class, Willy told everyone all about a new unit they would be doing. “It’s called Map-tology. Everyone draw a map of something. With a key.”

Leo drew the tree he lived in. His key showed where all the other ladybugs in his tree lived.

Titi wrote SUMTHING in block letters and drew a key next to it.

Emo drew her own body, full of all different words that no one else in the forest knew.

Act 17

In Rachel’s class everyone had their very first Predators and prey lesson. Rachel told them to go to the edge of the lake, where they would look at poop.

Then she told them what kind of animals poop the poop was. “Ew,” said Penny.

Then they read newspapers from Port Jervis for the rest of the day. “What does “Endagered” mean?” Asked Dolly. “What is Bitcoin?” Asked Penny. “What are food shortages?” Asked Clem.

“I don’t know,” said Rachel. “Ask a human.”

Act 18

Fiona, Elli, and Henry had a test. It was one question:

True or False: I am your teacher. _________

Everyone had the same answers, because they had assumed he was. After all, he was teaching them.

“WRONG!” He said. “I am!” Fiona sighed. “I think we all mispelled ‘yes’,” she said.
